Morfi / Mac, iPhone and iPad
Morfi Privacy Policy
Effective November 3, 2026
TechNICKal LLC makes Morfi and is responsible for this policy. If you have a question about your privacy or this policy, email nicholas@technickalapps.com.
In short
Morfi converts files on your Mac, iPhone or iPad. Your files are never uploaded. Morfi has no accounts, no usage analytics, no ads and no tracking, and TechNICKal LLC doesn't sell your data or share it for advertising. The only information that leaves your device because of Morfi is described below.
Your files
Every conversion happens on your device. Morfi reads the files you choose, and saves the converted files where you ask: on the Mac by default next to the originals, on iPhone and iPad in Morfi's folder in the Files app. Morfi doesn't send your files, their contents or information about them to TechNICKal LLC or anyone else. Privacy X-ray reads hidden details in a file, such as where a photo was taken, only to show them to you and to remove them if you ask (its map is described under Maps).
What stays on your device
Morfi keeps its settings, your presets, your recent format choices and how many free conversions you've used today. On the Mac it also keeps the folders you've allowed it to save into. All of this stays on your device, in Morfi's own storage, and is never sent anywhere.
On the Mac, if you turn on the drop shelf, Morfi follows the pointer's position and the mouse button. While you're dragging, it checks what's being dragged (whether it's a file, picture or link, and its file type) so it can open the shelf near the top of the screen with the right formats. It never sees your keystrokes in other apps, and nothing about your drags leaves your Mac. On every device, Morfi reads the clipboard only when you paste, and writes to it only when you copy.
On iPhone and iPad
Photos and files. Morfi works only on the photos and files you pick in Photos or Files, paste, drag in, or share to it. Picking photos uses Apple's photo picker, so Morfi never asks to see your photo library and sees only the photos you choose. Morfi copies what you pick into its own private storage on the device to convert it. Converted files are saved in Morfi's folder, which you can see in the Files app under On My iPhone (or iPad) › Morfi, until you delete them.
"Convert with Morfi" in the share sheet. The share sheet extension converts the files you share with it on your device, and hands the results back to the share sheet for you to save or send. Videos too large to convert there are passed to the Morfi app through private storage that only Morfi and its extension can read. Morfi's settings, presets and today's count of free conversions are kept in that same private storage, so the app and the share sheet stay in step. None of it is sent anywhere.
Siri and Shortcuts. Morfi's actions, such as "Convert with Morfi" and "Make this smaller with Morfi", run on your device. What you say to Siri is handled by Apple under its privacy policy.
Conversions in the background. If you leave Morfi while it's converting, iOS can let the conversion finish in the background and show its progress. This is a feature of iOS. Nothing about your files is sent anywhere.
Permissions. On iPhone and iPad, Morfi asks for the camera only when you tap Scan, to scan paper documents (the scans stay on your device), for speech recognition only when you make a transcript or subtitles, and for add-only access to Photos only when you choose Save to Photos. It doesn't ask for your microphone, location or contacts.
Save to Photos. On iPhone and iPad, if you choose Save to Photos, Morfi asks for add-only access so it can save converted files to your photo library. It can't view or read your existing photos.
Purchases and RevenueCat
Morfi Pro is one purchase for Mac, iPhone and iPad (Apple's Universal Purchase). Apple handles payment through the App Store. TechNICKal LLC never sees your payment details. Apple's privacy policy covers App Store purchases.
Morfi uses RevenueCat, a service for in-app purchases, to confirm that you own Morfi Pro, to restore it on your devices, and to show TechNICKal LLC sales figures. For this, RevenueCat receives:
- a random ID that Morfi creates, which isn't linked to your name, email or Apple Account;
- your Morfi purchase history from the App Store;
- basic technical details: the app and operating system version, your language and region, and the IP address its servers see with any internet request.
This information isn't linked to your identity and isn't used for tracking or advertising. RevenueCat's privacy policy is at https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy.
Web pages and links
When you give Morfi a link or web page to convert, Morfi loads that page the way a browser would, including the pictures and other files the page itself asks for. You can give it a page by dropping it in on the Mac, or by typing, pasting or sharing it from Safari on iPhone and iPad. Morfi loads it in a private session, without your cookies or sign-ins, which is discarded afterwards. The website's own privacy practices apply to those requests. Morfi sends nothing else. Saved web pages and HTML files you open in Morfi don't load anything from the internet.
Emails (.eml, .mbox) and ebooks are shown with only what's inside them. Morfi doesn't load their remote pictures, styles or fonts and doesn't run their scripts, so a sender can't tell that you opened a message.
Maps
Morfi asks Apple Maps for a map picture in two places, and Apple then receives the area shown: when you turn a GPS file (GPX, KML or GeoJSON) into a map picture, and when you choose Show Map in Privacy X-ray to see where a photo or video was taken, as a small map around that spot. Nothing else in Morfi uses Maps, and just opening Privacy X-ray sends nothing. Apple's privacy policy applies.
Speech, Just Say It and Dictation
- Transcripts and subtitles: speech recognition runs on your device and your recording isn't sent anywhere. Morfi asks for permission first. The first time, your device may download Apple's speech model for your language.
- Just Say It: your typed request is understood on your device, by Apple Intelligence where it's available or by Morfi's own keyword reader. It isn't sent anywhere.
- Dictation (Mac): the microphone button starts macOS Dictation. Dictation is a macOS feature and follows your Mac's Dictation settings and Apple's privacy policy. Morfi never gets access to your microphone, on any device.
Camera RAW (Mac)
If you choose Apple's RAW 9 engine for camera RAW photos (macOS 27 and later; Morfi asks once, and Settings can change it), macOS may download the engine's files from Apple once. Your photos are processed on your Mac and aren't sent anywhere.
Feedback
Send Feedback opens a new email in your mail app, with Morfi's version and your system's version filled in. Nothing is sent until you send it. If you email nicholas@technickalapps.com, TechNICKal LLC receives your email address, your message and any attachments you choose to send. Our email is provided by Google Workspace. We use your email to answer you and to fix problems, and keep it only as long as needed for that, for security and for legal obligations.
Crash reports
If you've chosen to share analytics with app developers, Apple may send TechNICKal LLC crash reports and basic diagnostics from Morfi. They don't include your files and aren't linked to you. You can turn this off at any time:
- on the Mac, in System Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements;
- on iPhone and iPad, in Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements › Share With App Developers.
Website
Morfi's support and privacy pages at technickalapps.com need no account and have no advertising, analytics or tracking cookies. Google Firebase Hosting serves the pages and may process standard request information, such as IP addresses, to deliver and protect the website. Google's privacy policy is at https://policies.google.com/privacy.
Children
Morfi doesn't knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Your choices, and deleting your data
- You can change Morfi's settings at any time. On the Mac you can also turn off the drop shelf, and turn off opening at login in Morfi's Settings or in macOS Login Items.
- Mac: to delete everything Morfi keeps, quit Morfi and delete these two folders: ~/Library/Containers/com.nickarabia.morfi and ~/Library/Containers/com.nickarabia.morfi.chrysalis. In Finder, choose Go > Go to Folder and type ~/Library/Containers. Finder may show them by name instead, such as Morfi. Your original and converted files aren't affected.
- iPhone and iPad: deleting Morfi deletes everything it keeps on the device, including the converted files in Morfi's folder in Files. Move any you want to keep to another folder first. Your photos and other original files aren't affected.
- RevenueCat's records use a random ID that TechNICKal LLC can't connect to you. To ask about or delete them, email nicholas@technickalapps.com with the date of your purchase and the order ID from Apple's receipt email, so we can find the right record.
- Deleting Morfi doesn't cancel or refund an App Store purchase. For that, contact Apple.
Changes
If Morfi's data practices change, we'll update this policy and its effective date on this page.
