Fold paper friends crease by crease, then care for them in a paper world called your Haven.
Choose a Foldling and a paper, then fold it step by step. In Easy, you drag each flap into place. In Hard, you pick up each corner and set every crease yourself, as with real paper, and each fold is scored for precision. When it’s finished, your new friend comes to life in your Haven, where you can feed it, play with it, fold it a home, and get to know its personality.

Foldlings is free on the App Store for iPhone and iPad, with no ads or subscriptions. It requires iOS 26 or iPadOS 26 or later.
Made for iPhone Duo
On iPhone Duo, the phone itself is part of the folding.
- Steps marked with the phone symbol are made by closing the phone, and the paper creases along the hinge.
- Close the phone when your new friend is finished and they go straight into your Haven on the cover screen. Open it again and the Haven carries on, with everyone where they were.
- Bend the open phone and the Haven tilts: friends slide toward the fold, then find their feet when you open it flat.
- Open, the Studio, Lanterns, the Paper Shop, and the Arcade are laid out as two pages, one on each side of the fold.
- In Paper Battles, folding the phone unleashes a friend’s Signature move once its meter is full.
On other iPhones and on iPad, every fold is made with touch.
Care for your friends
- Feed hungry friends their favorite treats, play fetch, and teach tricks as your bond grows. Friends share stories from their lives as you get closer.
- Fold homes for your friends: fold the walls and roof by hand, set in the door and windows, then decorate. Friends visit, rest, and hold tea parties there.
- Leave a treat in the visitor dish to see who comes by, and plant a garden that grows over real hours.
- Play Hide & Seek in the Haven, in Easy, Normal, or Tricky.
- Send friends exploring, and welcome them home with souvenirs and stories.
- Each friend has its own quirks, markings, and memories, and friends can become best friends.
- Add the Haven widget to your Home Screen to see a friend in their world, and pet them or give them a treat from there.
Seven worlds to rebuild
The Meadow, Seaside, Snowy Peaks, Autumn Woods, Desert Oasis, Sakura Grove, and Firefly Night each have their own weather, wild visitors, and activities. Every world also has a landmark in ruins, such as a lighthouse or a tea house. Friends who live there rebuild it piece by piece on work shifts that earn paper cranes, and each stage adds a lasting bonus. Each season brings its own visitor and papers, and some holidays bring a holiday friend who comes only on the day itself.
Papers
Every Foldling can be folded in any paper you own. Paper Studio lets you design your own, choosing a print, two colors, a size, and an angle, and shows it on any of your Foldlings before you keep it. Living Papers, an optional pack of eight, each have an effect of their own, such as Obsidian’s mirror glint and Paper Lantern’s glow at night.
Lanterns, eggs, and rare friends
Paper, Silk, and Moon lanterns are opened with paper cranes earned in the game. They hold papers, hats, furniture, and rare friends from Japanese folklore, such as the nine-tailed Kitsune and Seiryu the azure dragon. The chance of every prize is shown in the app before a lantern is opened, and a lantern never gives something you already own. Happy friends sometimes lay paper eggs that hatch into rare companions, and a friend may offer to molt into a rarer paper.
Arcade, battles, and trading
Play seven arcade games with one of your friends: Shrine Run, Sky Glide, Snow Sled, Pond Fishing, Crane Drop, Friend Stack, and Paper Football, each with three challenges. Paper Football can be played against a ladder of six rivals, by two players on one device, or on two devices nearby. Paper Battles are short duels on floating paper stages, against five Dojo masters or a player nearby. Paper Post trades Foldlings and handmade papers, and sends friends on playdates, between two nearby iPhones or iPads over Bluetooth or peer-to-peer Wi-Fi, with no account or shared network needed.
Purchases
Foldlings is free to play, with no ads or subscriptions. Optional one-time purchases add Foldling packs, papers, worlds, and hats, and each is shown in full before you buy. Paper cranes and lanterns are only earned by playing; nothing random is for sale. Packs are permanent, and the App Store shows each price in your local currency before purchase.
Privacy
No account is required. Your Haven is saved on your device and backed up to your own iCloud account. Foldlings sends anonymous play statistics to help improve the game, and you can turn them off in Journey → Privacy. Read the Foldlings privacy policy.
